Milton is so knowledgeable not only about details of the rubber history but of the entire history of Manaus and life in the Amazon. We both had read a decent amount of Brazilian history and researched the region but learned so much with Milton.

We added on a second tour of the river where we took a boat out to see a number of traditional Amazonian floating villages. The depth of knowledge and love he has for the region made it so special. We really got a comprehensive taste for the region in one day, exactly what we were looking for. We got to see a ton of wildlife too!

Apart from an excellent tour, Milton himself is a great person. Very warm and knowledgeable. We felt very comfortable with him, it felt like spending a day with an old friend. Very rare to find someone like Milton.

  We hired Milton Fernandes for a tour focusing on the history of the rubber industry in the Manaus region. He was terrific. We are American, have good historical knowledge and... read more significant interest, and know zero Portuguese. A native of the area, he speaks excellent English. We appreciated his ability to tailor the discussion to some of our specific interests, and very much appreciated getting accurate information. Some tours will focus on area lore and urban myths -- this was much more historically grounded than that.

When we had some time later in our trip, we booked a different tour with Milton, one that had swimming with the red/pink dolphins and was great for a family group with kids.

Milton also pointed us to a few good restaurants, and we appreciate that.
